This is video 2 of 4 of a story and footage of a man fighting a bear.  Something is very compelling about the idea that a man would be fighting a bear, especially in this scenario, as the bear is not wearing a muzzle, and is not declawed.

It used to be more common, but there are still some places where a bear will be brought out, sideshow style, for local men to come try their hand at fighting the bear.  Usually, unlike this matchup, the bear fighting has a muzzle on, however, and is certainly declawed.  The grandfather of a friend of mine told him that he saw this once, and though you’d walk by a list of rules while in line to fight the bear, the man at the gate would reiterate just one: “Don’t punch the bear.”
